WRITER, RESEARCHER, GHOST EDITOR
I specialize in assisting authors in editing their fiction or non-fiction books and readying them for publication.
I was born and raised in Ohio, where the patch of land by the road is called a devil strip, a vacuum is called a sweeper, and soda is called pop. I have resided there for most of my life, except for the five and a half years I lived in Kennesaw, Georgia - I consider myself both a Buckeye and a Peach.
I discovered my passion for words in the fourth grade and have enjoyed writing and storytelling ever since. Although I consider being a wife and mother my greatest success, nothing surpasses my enthusiasm for creative editing. I have a genuine fascination with language and communication.
I spent a few years in college, training as a broadcast reporter and writing for the university newspaper. I have a talent for spotting patterns and asking direct questions, which helps me uncover unique perspectives and insights. This curiosity led to a successful career in risk management and quality control. Combining all my skills, I now consider myself a sort of "word auditor" - my dream job.
I am passionately independent, which fuels my dream of entrepreneurship. Independence was redefined for me; however, when in 2017, I was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumor that left me with severe, irreparable nerve and spine damage. This experience forced me to examine my life, purpose, and relationships. I decided I needed to pursue my love of writing and helping people through ghost editing and writing, where I could help give a voice to people and businesses with none. I can help provide a voice for people and companies with none.
Ghost editing is a relatively new concept that might seem mysterious (and even scary) to some writers. It is a compromise between ghostwriting (having someone compose a book or article for you) and getting a helping hand. I like to believe everyone has fantastic ideas and stories but aren't natural writers, so a compassionate, mimi-style ghost editor can help them get those stories into the world where they belong.
I love hanging out with our three precocious dachshunds (Louie, George and Henry), traveling, visiting historical sites and waterfalls, hiking, and playing word games. I am a self-described latte junkie and pizza connoisseur, and, for total transparency, I have been accused of being a sarcasm guru. I plead the fifth, but I admit I have a pretty mean eye-roll.

Great writers and writing:
I believe that instinct and experience help develop one into a good writer. Good writers freely embrace the role of the consummate observer; they see patterns and find connections where others do not. They are constantly challenging their perspective. When a writer effectively captures this wisdom in the written word, it can spark curiosity in the reader and encourage them to explore and challenge their perceptions, even moving them to act. A great writer can describe the world around them (and the people in it) in such a way that a reader becomes part of it for just a while. But when you come floating back to reality, the wisdom in their words stays with you.
That is what I believe makes a great writer.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) and writing:
I see AI as a possible tool, a small part of the entire writing process, especially beneficial for those who are not natural writers. It can help create content (like product descriptions) for efficiency; the caveat is that one must be an excellent editor with a meticulous eye for detail to use AI effectively.
I do not fear that writers will eventually be "replaced" by AI. I fear the people in charge of the AI will displace true authors and writers. AI can never be substituted for human ingenuity and the inherent spirit to adapt and survive. AI can't think for you and certainly doesn't feel for you; it does as it's told. Empathy is a crucial component of good writing, and It is something that AI will never be able to replace.
